Set up permissions.

(You will probably not need to do this if your computer is not attached to a corporate network)

At install time read-write permissions are required for:

• the Windows\System32 Folder,
• the Windows\Fonts folder and for
• a directory, normally in the Program Files folder, which contains the software.
• Shortcuts are added to the user's User Templates Folder, and to their desktop.

After install :

• read permissions are required forthe Windows\System32 folder, and
• read-write permissions are needed for the application folder.

Log in as the user who will be using the software.

Word stores template details separately for each user, so the software needs to be installed for each user that will be using it on a particular computer.

Set the Security Level in Word.

Word < 2007

Your copy of Microsoft Word needs to be set up to allow macros to run.
To do this:

• start Word, and go to the Tools menu.
• You may need  to wait a short period before all the options are available on the menu.
• From the Tools menu select "Macro", then "Security".
• Set the security level to "Medium" or "Low".

If you set the level to "Medium", you will need to enable Macros in the template each time you activate the template, but you will have more protection against macro viruses. However, if you have a virus checker, and keep it up to date, it is very unlikely that macro viruses would not be detected as you open your files, so it is not really necessary to set the security to anything other than "low"

Word 2007

Your copy of Microsoft Word needs to be set up to allow macros to run.

To do this:

• Click on the Office icon at the top left
• Select "Word Options" at the bottom of the drop-down menu
• Click on "Trust Center" in the left-hand column of the dialog
• Click on "Trust Center Settings" at the bottom of the right-hand pane
• Select "Enable all macros"

Although the system will tell you this is not recommended, there should be no problems provided you have a virus checker, and keep it up-to-date.
